TESTING Testing is a crucial phase in the process of localization. Just as the localization process should begin early in the product cycle, so should testing of a localized project. Proper beta testing will help ensure that your development team pays sufficient attention to international formats and issues. Localization testing can be done not only for internal translation projects, but also for independent projects where Sinometrics may not have performed the translation. The methodology we follow is similar to that of software development testing. Our qualified localization testers use a detailed test plan to address each of the following types of bugs: linguistic, technical and functional. Linguistic testing deals with the language-related issues of a localized product, including local currency symbols, locale-specific text, text truncations, garbage characters and more. Functional testing addresses visual issues to ensure that the localized characters display correctly under various operating system scenarios. Technical testing involves ensuring the code and program will run without errors in the localized version of your product. |
